Extra sensory ability or perception
Extra sensory perception (ESP) is the ability to receive information through channels other than the five senses that we know about in modern science (taste, sight, touch, smell and hearing). Some of the most common forms are explained below.
• Psychics can finely tune the five known senses in order to perceive events in other places, e.g. clairvoyance – visualising events in the mind’s eye; clairaudience – hearing information that’s inaudible to most people’s ears; clairsentience - feelings related to the event; clairgustance – perception of tastes related to the event; and clairalience – smelling odours related to the event.
• Psychics can also perceive events in other time planes, e.g. retrocognition or postcognition – knowing about events after they have occurred; or precognition/second sight – knowing about future events before they happen.
• Psychics can perceive energy forces that others are unable to see, such as aura. Aura is the personal energy field surrounding a person, visible to psychics as a colourful emanation from the individual’s body. A person’s aura can reveal their personality and state of mind.
