Other psychic methods of communication
The main psychic channels of communication are the senses (clairaudience, clairvoyance, clairsentience), the aura (energy field) and pre- and post-cognition. However, there are many more and every psychic has their own innate method of perception. Some other psychic powers include:
Telepathy: telepathy is the ability to communicate directly from one mind to another, without any form of physical communication. Sometimes the messages are received as words and thoughts, other times they are received as pictures or symbols. The best time to receive telepathic messages is when the mind is relaxed and open to intuition, often when about to fall asleep or in a semi-meditative state. For many people it’s easiest to tune into their family or close friends, but professional psychics have sensitive enough minds to perceive thoughts and messages from people they don’t know.
Psychometry: all objects have a past. They’re not purely physical entities but also have an energy field, which is imprinted with memories from their history – e.g. past owners and events that occurred with them or in their presence. Psychics can use an object belonging to an individual, such as a piece of jewellery or a photograph, to find out more about them. It can be useful for psychics to have something tangible to hold in order to focus their mind on the individual.
Psychokinesis: ‘kinesis’ comes from the Greek, meaning ‘movement’, and psychokinesis is therefore the ability to move objects or alter their physical properties, or sometimes influence the outcome of events, through the power of the intuitive mind. It’s about harnessing positive thought and channelling it into physical energy – mind over matter.
Astral projection: also known as astral travel, this phenomenon can be described as an out-of-body experience. Some psychics can delve deep enough into their own consciousness to be able to move their soul to another level of being, the astral plane. Astral projection is like a very lucid dream, but it’s a very real experience in which the person is in full control.
