Parapsychology
Psi and science
Psychic ability is part of the field of parapsychology, defined by the Oxford dictionary as ‘the study of mental phenomena which are excluded from or inexplicable by orthodox scientific psychology, such as hypnosis, telepathy, etc’. The validity of parapsychology as a scientific field of study is often disputed, although several detailed experiments and research studies have been carried out, such as the contentious Ganzfeld experiments, in which extra-sensory perception was tested by means of sensory deprivation.
Even if our current scientific knowledge can’t yet explain or rationalise psychic ability, there’s certainly a great deal of compelling evidence for it. There are millions of people across the world who are able to tune into a higher level of awareness and have had significant extra-sensory experiences that cannot be explained by rational means.
